Les petits mâles: film & discussion

On Thursday 16 January at 7 pm, the City of Differdange’s equal opportunities department is screening the film Les petits mâles at the Aalt Stadhaus. The evening is organised in partnership with the cultural center and infoMann.

About the film

Les petits mâles interviews about thirty boys between the ages of 7 and 18 from all over France and from different backgrounds. We asked them about issues that are at the heart of feminist struggles today: physical appearance and aesthetic imperatives, love and friendship, sexism and sexual violence, gender fluidity and the rights of LGBTQI people. In resonance with their words, women old enough to be their grandmothers unravel the thread of their lives, evoking the men of yesterday. The contrast with the boys, the men of tomorrow, underlines the magnitude of the changes underway.

Written and directed by: Laurent Metterie and Camille Froidevaux-Metterie
Production and distribution: Lam Produxion
Duration: 73 minutes
Language: French

Designed as an educational film on equality and sexism, Les petits mâles aims to raise young people’s awareness of the mechanisms that reproduce gender stereotypes and fuel violence. By holding up a mirror to teenagers, the film presents itself as a cross-generational tool for reflection and discussion.

Open discussion with infoMann

After the screening, you can take part in an open discussion with infoMann and enjoy the information stand manned by the infoMann team.

This is followed by finger food and drinks.
