The City of Differdange informs its residents that a traffic test phase will be implemented from 3 to 16 November 2025, during which a one-way traffic circuit will be put in place. This experiment will result in significant changes to several streets in the city center.

We urge all road users to exercise caution and comply with the new signage during this period.

Important Information

The aim of these measures is to improve traffic flow in the morning by eliminating interference caused by two-way traffic. This will also make it easier and safer for pedestrians and schoolchildren to get around, as cars will only be coming from one direction.

As this change also affects the Niederkorn roundabout, access to Rue de Longwy near the “Blo Barak” has been temporarily closed since 27 October and will remain so until 16 November. This measure has already had a positive impact in the mornings, easing traffic at the Niederkorn roundabout and around the school.

As a municipality, we have the ambition – and also the responsibility – to address the complexity of traffic in our area, particularly in terms of school safety. The safety of our children must remain our top priority.

For years, the Niederkorn roundabout and the center of Differdange have been regularly congested by transit traffic, which has no place in a city center, a residential area, or near schools. This is particularly problematic in the morning, when many children and pedestrians are on the move.

The measure will be accompanied by traffic counts and analyses throughout the municipality in order to better understand traffic distribution and evaluate the effects of these actions.

These test phases, lasting two to three weeks, will allow concrete data to be collected at low cost before deciding on any permanent works or developments.

We hope that residents will support this temporary phase in the interests of safer and more efficient mobility for the entire municipality of Differdange.
