Winter Festivities

The festive season is approaching fast. Here are the most important dates for you to mark in your calendar.

18 & 19 November | Hobbymaart | Market Square

The festivities kick off with the Hobbymaart on November 18 and 19 on Differdange’s Place du Marché. Organized by the Käschtefrënn Déifferdeng, the Hobbymaart will host the stands of 22 exhibitors. For those with small (and large) appetites, there will be grilled meats, cake and, of course, chestnuts.

24-26 November | Advent Market | Lasauvage

On the weekend of November 24 to 26, the Lanz Bulldog Frënn Déifferdeng organize their traditional Advent Market in Lasauvage. The official opening is scheduled for November 24 at 6:30 pm, with a procession of children from the Lasauvage school. Concerts will be held throughout the event. And on November 26, Saint Nicolas comes to visit.

1 December | Opening of the Christmas Market | Place du Marché

The official opening of the Differdange Christmas Market takes place at 6:30 pm on the Market Square. The Christmas Market will run from December 1 to 21, from 2 pm to 8 pm. The Christmas Market will be open until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to traditional Christmas stalls, the Market will host an artificial skating rink, concerts, an après-ski event and a merry-go-round.

1-21 December | “Lëtzebuerger Klengdéierewelt” | Pedestrian zone

From 1 to 21 December, discover the small animals of Luxembourg’s forests in Differdange’s pedestrian zone. Take advantage of your visit to the Christmas Market to visit the exhibition of the Administration de la nature et des forêts.

The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 2 pm to 8 pm.

2 December | Saint-Nicolas Procession | Differdange

Would you like to meet Saint Nicholas? We’ve got good news for you. Saint Nicolas has told us that he’ll be marching through the streets of our town on December 2 starting at 2 pm—from the parking lot Centre-ville, through the town center to the Place du Marché. He hopes to see many of you there.

4 December | Feast of Saint Barbara | Lasauvage

As every year, miners will be thought of on December 4 at the Saint Barbara’s Day celebration in Lasauvage.
The program includes the laying of wreaths at the Monument des Mineurs at 7 pm, the departure of the procession at 7.15 pm, mass in the Salle des Fêtes at 7.30 pm, departure from the Minièresbunn Doihl at 8.20 pm and the reception in the gallery of the Doihl mine at 8.30 pm.

13 December | Christmas Concert of the Music School | Niederkorn Church

The École de Musique de Differdange will hold its traditional Christmas concert on December 13 at 6:30 pm at the Niederkorn church. The concert will be followed by a graduation ceremony.
