Titelberg Gallo-Roman site

At the time of the Celts, the Titelberg played a primordial role. On the rocky spur overlooking the valley of the Chiers, which today is part of the territory of the municipality of Pétange, an important oppidum was erected in the 2nd century BC. Apart from the strategic advantages, the choice of the site is due to the presence of iron ore. There were large quantities of coins showing the importance of extensive economic relations. The collection of excavation objects is on display at the National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg City. Signs provide the visitor with the necessary explanations. The “Tëtelbierg” is accessible from the Fond-de Gras and guided tours can be booked upon request.
