Application for a permanent-residence certificate

For citizens of the European Union residing at least 5 years in Luxembourg

Please note: The residence card (Carte de séjour) NO LONGER EXISTS for European citizens! It has been replaced by the certificate of permanent residence or the registration certificate.

Documents to be submitted

  • valid identity document of the applicant: valid identity card or valid passport
  • proof of 5 years legal residence in Luxembourg for the applicant: certificate of residence of the municipality where the applicant currently resides and, if applicable, certificate(s) of residence of the municipality(s) where the applicant resided before  – up to 5 years ago. 

For family members

  • household composition of the municipality where the applicant and family member (= father or mother or spouse or partner) currently reside and, if applicable, the certificate(s) of residence of the municipality(s) where the family member lived before – up to 5 years ago.
