Declaration of departure

Departure to another municipality within the Grand Duchy

In the event of a change of residence within Luxembourg, the citizens are no longer obliged to declare their departure to the commune, but declare themselves directly at their new place of residence.

However, in case of a move of the whole household, it is imperative to inform the customer service department of the departure, in order to cancel your trash cans and settle the accounts concerning:

• water consumption
• garbage collection
• dog charges

Departure abroad

Anyone leaving the country permanently must declare their departure from the country to the citizens office (Biergeramt) the day before their departure at the latest.

Documents to be presented:

• valid identity card or passport
• certificate of registration / residence permit
• the address of the new place of residence
