Improving the air naturally

In an effort to further improve the air quality in the city and thus the health of the population, and at the same time come a step closer to the goals of the NetZeroCities mission, the city of Differdange will install moss filter installations at various locations starting this summer.

  • They filter CO2 and particulate matter from the air
  • They clean, humidify and cool the ambient air
  • They improve the air quality
  • They provide shade and seating

How does it work?

The polluted, warm air is drawn in by the built-in fans. The air then passes through the moss mats, cleaning and cooling the air. Moss has the ability to trap fine dust. The clean, cool air is then released back into the environment. In addition, the installations provide shaded benches for residents to sit on. The filter systems make it possible to improve the quality of life in sealed areas where it is not possible to plant trees.

The inauguration of the first City Tree took place on Monday 22 July 2024 on Place des Alliés.
