The municipal administration has a new address

 

Due to the extensive extension and renovation work on the town hall, the municipal administration moved in February 2025 and will be relocated to two sites (Mandela residence & former hospital) for a period of 3-4 years. After the renovation work, the City of Differdange will have a modern town hall, in which our departments will be able to serve the city’s citizens as best as possible.

Citizens’ Office – Customer Service – Mobility – Schools – CSA

The citizens’ office and other departments with a lot of public contact are located in the Nelson Mandela building, which is only a two-minute walk from the town hall.

Parking
You can use the Aalt Stadhaus parking garage (rue Saint-Nicolas) or the car park on Place Nelson Mandela. Please note that during the renovation of the town hall, part of the car park will be closed for construction equipment.

The College of Aldermen, the Municipal Secretariat and the departments with little public contact are located in the former hospital, about ten minutes’ walk from City Hall.

Access to the former hospital is by appointment only. Please make an appointment in advance with the department concerned. You will find all our services in our directory.

A new city hall by 2028

Inaugurated in 1964, the current town hall no longer meets the needs of the city, which has grown from 17,700 to more than 30,000 inhabitants. The acquisition of two adjacent plots of land will allow for a considerable expansion, increasing the total surface area from 2,915 m² to 7,280 m².

The new building will comprise three interconnected sections: the existing renovated building, a new L-shaped wing, and a civic center with an entrance on Rue Metzkimmert. The complex has been designed to optimize access for citizens, with all frequently used departments grouped together on the ground floor.

 

Start of construction: January 2025

End of construction: June 2028

Project cost: 41,500,000 €
