For citizens of the European Union residing at least 5 years in Luxembourg

Please note: The residence card (Carte de séjour) NO LONGER EXISTS for European citizens! It has been replaced by the permanent residence permit or the registration certificate.

For family members

Household composition of the municipality where the applicant and family member (= father or mother or spouse or partner) currently reside and, if applicable, the certificate(s) of residence of the municipality(s) where the family member lived before – up to 5 years ago.

In person at the Citizens’ Office

Please go to the Citizens’ Office.

Documents to be submitted:

valid identity document of the applicant: valid identity card or valid passport
proof of 5 years legal residence in Luxembourg: certificate of residence of the municipality where the applicant currently resides and, if applicable, certificate(s) of residence of the municipality(s) where the applicant resided before – up to 5 years ago.
