Differdange accelerates its transition to electric mobility

The City of Differdange and the Petro-Center group are joining forces to create an ambitious network of 51 charging stations for electric vehicles.

As part of its commitment to sustainable mobility, the City of Differdange is taking a decisive step forward by partnering with Bestcharge, the Petro-Center group’s electric mobility brand. This strategic collaboration aims to provide the municipality with a modern, high-performance charging network powered by green electricity.

“This project is part of our commitment to accelerating the energy transition by offering concrete solutions for more sustainable mobility,” emphasizes Guy Altmeisch, mayor of Differdange.

A complete and accessible network

By winter 2025, Bestcharge will deploy 51 charging stations strategically located throughout the city. The network will include 19 fast-charging stations (from 50 kW to 300 kW) at nine main sites, as well as 32 standard 11 kW AC charging stations for everyday needs. In total, more than 100 parking spaces will be reserved for electric vehicles, with a cumulative power output of more than three megawatts.

The equipped sites will include strategic locations such as the Parking Hauts-Fourneaux, the 1535° Creative Hub, Place des Alliés, and numerous residential neighborhoods, ensuring optimal coverage of the municipality.

Patrick Schnell, CEO of Petro-Center SA, says: “It is an honor to actively contribute to the development of electric mobility in Luxembourg, alongside a municipality as committed as Differdange.”

This initiative confirms Differdange’s commitment to energy transition and provides citizens with modern infrastructure to support the shift towards cleaner mobility. Another step towards a sustainable future for our city!
