Caution in the Forest

Increased Risks During Periods of Drought and Heat

Prolonged periods of heat and drought severely weaken our forests. In addition to the risk of wildfires, there is a higher risk of falling branches or trees snapping. As a result, even trees that appear healthy may harbor risks that are not visible from the outside.

The Nature and Forestry Administration therefore urges citizens to exercise particular caution during their walks in the forest:

  • Stay alert during walks and activities in the forest, especially after severe weather or long periods of drought.
  • When taking breaks during your walks, choose open areas away from trees.
  • Stay on marked trails and paths.
  • Strictly comply with temporary closures and safety measures that have been put in place.
  • Avoid activities that could cause sparks or fires.
