DynamiCity

DynamiCity is a Horizon Europe-funded project focusing on cancer prevention, survivorship and climate-neutral urban mobility. By encouraging walking, cycling, and other forms of active mobility, the project promotes healthier lifestyles while supporting the transition towards climate-neutral cities.

The mission of DynamiCity is to demonstrate that active mobility is not only essential for climate-neutral cities but can also play an important role in improving public health and supporting cancer prevention.

DynamiCity contributes to the EU Mission on Cancer, the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the European Declaration on Cycling.

DynamiCity brings together cities, citizens, healthcare professionals, researchers and urban planners to develop practical solutions that encourage active mobility.

The project combines improvements to public spaces, digital mobility solutions, and policy measures to make walking and cycling safer, easier and more attractive in everyday life.

Walking and cycling are among the easiest ways to stay physically active in everyday life. Regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of several chronic diseases, including certain types of cancer.

By making active travel safer, easier and more attractive, DynamiCity promotes healthier lifestyles, cleaner air and more liveable neighbourhoods while contributing to the goals of the EU Mission on Cancer and the transition towards climate-neutral cities.

DynamiCity is coordinated by Eurecat and funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101270042),

The project brings together 27 partners and 9 associated partners from 18 European countries to develop and test innovative solutions across 12 European cities.

As one of the six lead demonstration cities, Differdange will help develop and test these solutions before they are shared with other European cities.

Differdange is Luxembourg’s only Climate-Neutral Mission City, working towards climate neutrality by 2030 as part of the European Commission’s EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

As one of the 12 European cities participating in DynamiCity, Differdange will test innovative solutions that encourage people to walk, cycle and choose more sustainable ways of travelling around the city.

Although Differdange is a relatively compact city, more than 72% of daily journeys are currently made by private car. Through DynamiCity, the city aims to:

  • explore ways to improve walking routes and pedestrian accessibility;
  • develop and test the concept of “Heart Zones” around schools and care homes;
  • explore traffic-calming measures to make active travel safer and more attractive;
  • test health-related features and incentives as part of its digital mobility services to encourage active mobility;
  • use mobility data and digital tools to better understand travel patterns and inform future mobility planning.

These activities aim to contribute to safer and healthier public spaces, encourage active mobility and support Differdange’s transition towards climate neutrality.
