The City’s heat wave emergency plan is now in effect. If the alert level rises to orange—which is likely in the coming weeks—the refreshment stand at the John-Scheuren Sports Center will open its doors to anyone who cannot protect themselves from the heat at home.
Announced on July 10, the City of Differdange’s heat wave emergency plan is now ready to be implemented. As of now, the entire system is in place and will be activated automatically as soon as an “orange” phase is officially declared by the relevant authorities of the Grand Duchy—a likely scenario given the forecasts for the coming weeks.
Once the plan is activated, the refreshment stand at the John-Scheuren Sports Center will be open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the duration of the orange phase. On site, visitors will find:
This program is intended for the general public, and more specifically for vulnerable individuals—that is, seniors, people living alone, or those who lack the means to protect themselves from the heat at home.
The John-Scheuren Sports Center is served by the Diffbus 3, which provides free transportation to the venue.
Those who are unable to travel by bus may contact the City at 58 77 1-3333: special transportation provided by municipal services will pick them up.
By preparing in advance for the upcoming heat wave, the City is ensuring it can respond immediately. As soon as an “orange” alert is issued, information about the opening of the cooling center will be posted on the City’s website and social media channels.
