The City of Differdange is launching its local energy community. Electricity producers and consumers can now exchange renewable energy generated in the region—a platform open to everyone: individuals, businesses, and public entities.
The energy landscape is changing. In the future, electricity will no longer come primarily from large power plants, but from a multitude of small, decentralized installations located close to consumers and owned by citizens. Energy supply is becoming more accessible; it is becoming connected and smart.
The Differdange e-community is part of this vision: a platform that maximizes the value of locally generated electricity and places the energy transition in the hands of citizens.
Organized as a cooperative seeking the status of a social impact company, the platform is guided by the principles of the commons economy: its purpose is not to generate profits for shareholders, but to serve the public interest and establish a sustainable, decentralized energy supply.
