Heat Wave: Be Aware of Fire Hazards

Due to high temperatures and persistent drought, the risk of fire is currently very high throughout the municipality. Dry vegetation can catch fire in a matter of seconds—a single spark is all it takes.

The City of Differdange therefore urges all residents to exercise the utmost caution and to follow these guidelines:

Do not discard cigarette butts in nature, on public roads, or out of your car window;

Refrain from lighting fires outdoors (campfires, barbecues on dry ground, burning yard waste);

Do not use firecrackers or other fireworks;

Do not leave any trash lying around in nature—a bottle or a shard of glass can act as a magnifying glass and start a fire;

Do not park your vehicle on dry grass: the hot exhaust pipe can ignite the vegetation;

Be careful when working outdoors with machinery (lawn mowers, brush cutters, grinders, etc.): sparks can cause a fire
